‘I Have an OND, But I Need to Go Back to School’ — Portable

Nigerian street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has revealed plans to return to school despite his success in the music industry, saying he wants to acquire the knowledge needed to better manage his career and business.

The singer made the disclosure in a video shared on social media, where he explained that furthering his education would help him better understand music royalties, contracts and the operations of his record label, Zeh Nation.

Portable clarified that he previously attended Kwara State Polytechnic, saying he completed an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) programme but intends to continue his education.

“Even though I already have an OND from Kwara State Polytechnic, I still want to further my education. I sponsor people and my children too to avoid stories like ‘Portable didn’t go to school’ in the future. So, I want to go back to school to monitor and understand my music royalties and business deals better, especially for my record label, Zeh Nation.”

According to the singer, returning to school is not just about earning another certificate but equipping himself with the skills needed to manage his brand and business more professionally without relying solely on others.
