Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria Delta Branch disowns Suspected Female Hard Drug Dealer as Member

The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Delta State Branch, has disowned a suspected female drug dealer, Mrs. Egbulem Isioma, who was recently arrested in Ughelli with large quantities of illicit substances, describing her as an imposter with no professional affiliation to the body.

The clarification was contained in a disclaimer signed by the State Chairman, Pharm. Ogheneovo Aghoja (PhD), and circulated to journalists in Asaba.

According to the statement, Isioma has never been registered with the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) and is not a member of the PSN, despite claims suggesting otherwise.

“From all available records, Mrs. Egbulem Isioma is not licensed or registered by the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN). She is not a pharmacist or a member of the PSN as claimed, and the body has no connection with her,” Pharm. Aghoja said.

He warned the public to be cautious of quacks posing as professionals, stressing that only trained and certified pharmacists are authorized to handle and dispense medicines.

“She is not qualified to handle the scope of medicines exhibited by the police at the time of her arrest, so any advice, services, or claims made by her are unauthorized and potentially harmful to the public,” the statement added.

The disclaimer follows the August 29, 2025, police raid in Ughelli, where operatives of the Delta State Police Command stormed a suspected drug hideout and arrested Isioma along with three of her apprentices.

Recovered from her residence and chemist store were: 355 bottles of CSC Codeine syrup, 57 rolls of 50mg Tramadol capsules, 335 rolls of 100mg Tramadol capsules, 33 rolls of 200mg Super Royal, 540 sachets of Swinol capsules, 16 cups of Canadian liquid cannabis.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda S. Olufemi, described Isioma as a major dealer in illicit drugs across Ughelli and its environs, vowing that the command would intensify its clampdown on criminal elements in the state.

In its statement, the PSN commended the Delta State Police Command for its relentless efforts in curbing crime and protecting public health.

Pharm. Aghoja stressed that drug abuse remains a ticking time bomb among Nigerian youths, adding that the proliferation of controlled substances in unlicensed hands worsens insecurity, addiction, and health crises.

He urged security operatives to continue working with professional health bodies to dismantle drug cartels and protect citizens from harmful substances.

The PSN further advised citizens to always verify the authenticity of healthcare providers by checking with the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) and the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN).

The body pledged to continue upholding professional standards and to support regulatory and legal actions against imposters like Isioma, who put lives at risk through unregulated and unethical drug sales.
