One Month After Saying “I Do,” Jota’s Widow Remembers Him With Tearful Tribute
Rute Cardoso, the widow of late Portuguese footballer Diogo Jota, has shared a heartfelt tribute marking what would have been their one-month wedding anniversary.
In an emotional Instagram post on Tuesday, Cardoso posted several photos from their wedding day, including a touching image of the couple holding hands.
The caption read, “1 month of our ‘until death do us part’. Forever, your white girl.”
The tribute comes just weeks after the tragic car accident that claimed the lives of Jota, aged 28, and his younger brother, André Silva. The crash occurred on July 3 in Spain, just 11 days after Jota and Cardoso tied the knot.

According to reports, the brothers were travelling along a highway near Seville when their vehicle lost control and veered off the road. Emergency responders pronounced both men dead at the scene.
Jota, known for his dynamic play and versatility, was a key forward for Liverpool FC and the Portuguese national team. His death sent shockwaves across the football world, with fans, teammates, and clubs paying tribute to the late athlete’s passion, humility, and work ethic both on and off the pitch.
