BREAKING NEWS: Governor Oborevwori Reassigns Commissioners Following Resignations
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has moved swiftly to fill administrative gaps created by the resignation of two cabinet members, reassigning sitting commissioners to oversee the vacant ministries pending further directives.
The Governor directed the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, Princess Pat Ajudua, to take immediate supervisory oversight of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl Child Development. Similarly, the Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Godknows Angele, has been directed to supervise the Ministry of Youth Development with immediate effect.
The directives were contained in an official statement issued on Friday by the State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu.
The reassignments became necessary following the resignations of Ms. Orode Uduaghan, who served as Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl Child Development, and Barr. ThankGod Harry Trakiriowei, who held the portfolio for Youth Development.
Both former commissioners stepped down from their executive positions to pursue elective offices, specifically seats in the Delta State House of Assembly, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Governor Oborevwori, through the statement, acknowledged the contributions of the two departing commissioners, expressing appreciation for what was described as their “patriotic service” to Delta State. The Governor also extended goodwill wishes to both as they transition into the electioneering season.
The new supervisory arrangements take immediate effect, according to the statement, with the state government indicating that further announcements will follow in due course — suggesting that substantive replacements for both ministerial positions may be on the horizon.
The development signals an early stir of political activity in Delta State as key government figures begin positioning themselves well ahead of the 2027 general elections.
