Why DESOPADEC Built Ultra-Modern Police Station in Aboh – Ochonogor
The Managing Director of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Festus Ochonogor, has explained that the newly built ultra-modern police station in Aboh, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State, was established to strengthen security and improve access to police services for residents.
Chief Ochonogor spoke shortly after the commissioning of the facility by Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, stating that the project was designed to bring law enforcement closer to the people.
According to him, the police station will ensure quicker response times, improved safety for residents and businesses, as well as enhanced peace in the community.
He disclosed that the facility is fully equipped with offices, an armoury and residential quarters for officers to improve operational efficiency and create better working conditions for security personnel.
Chief Ochonogor stressed that sustainable development cannot thrive without adequate security, noting that the presence of a modern police station would help maintain peace and encourage economic activities in Aboh and surrounding communities.
He also commended the Delta State Government for sustaining infrastructural development across oil-producing communities, describing the investments as critical to improving living standards in the mandate areas.
Also speaking, the member representing Ndokwa ethnic nationality on the DESOPADEC Board, Dr. Charles Olisa, described the project as a major development for the Ndokwa nation.
He said the new police station reflects DESOPADEC’s commitment to opening up rural communities, improving security and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents.
Dr. Olisa further appreciated Governor Oborevwori for prioritising development in oil-bearing communities through the delivery of legacy infrastructure projects.
