Oborevwori Inaugurates Zenith Bank’s 19th Delta Branch in Osubi, Declares State Open for More Investments

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, inaugurated the new Osubi branch of Zenith Bank Plc in Okpe Local Government Area, describing the investment as a strong vote of confidence in Delta State’s growing economy and investor-friendly environment.

Governor Oborevwori said the opening of Zenith Bank’s 19th branch in Delta State reflects increasing investor trust in the state and reinforces his administration’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the governor described the project as more than the establishment of a banking facility, noting that it symbolises confidence in Delta State’s economic future.

“This is more than just a banking facility coming on stream. It is a strong vote of confidence in the future of Delta State and in the opportunities that lie before us,” Oborevwori stated.

He commended the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank Plc, Dame Adaora Umeoji, and the bank’s leadership for delivering on their promise to establish a branch in Osubi.

According to the governor, the branch represents a major milestone for residents and businesses in the area, especially as it becomes the first banking institution currently operating within the locality.

“When this administration came on board, the bank promised to build a branch to service this community and today that promise has become reality,” he said.

Oborevwori noted that residents had long advocated for improved access to financial services and expressed optimism that the development would attract additional financial institutions to the area.

He attributed the growing interest of private investors in Delta State to sustained peace, security, and deliberate government policies designed to encourage economic growth.

“Delta State is enjoying an atmosphere of peace and security that allows businesses to thrive and communities to prosper. This is the result of deliberate efforts to strengthen security, promote stability and create an environment where people can invest with confidence,” he stated.

The governor explained that the new branch would enhance access to quality banking services, support entrepreneurship, deepen financial inclusion, strengthen small and medium-scale enterprises, and stimulate economic activities across Osubi and surrounding communities.

According to him, each new private sector investment in the state sends a positive signal to investors nationally and internationally.

“When a leading financial institution expands its footprint in Delta State, it sends a powerful message that Delta is open for business and ready for greater investment.

“As government, we will continue to sustain peace, improve infrastructure and support private sector partnerships that create jobs and improve the lives of our people,” Oborevwori added.

Earlier, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank Plc, Dr. Adaora Umeoji, commended Governor Oborevwori for supporting private sector growth and creating favourable conditions for investment.

She disclosed that the governor donated the land on which the branch was built at no cost to the bank, describing the gesture as evidence of his administration’s commitment to economic development.

“The Governor generously donated this land free of charge. That singular act reflects his dedication to creating an enabling environment for businesses and demonstrates the large-hearted spirit Deltans are known for,” she said.

Umeoji further praised the pace of infrastructure and socio-economic development under the governor’s M.O.R.E Agenda, noting that the impact of the administration’s policies is visible across communities in the state.

She revealed that the Osubi facility marks Zenith Bank’s 19th branch in Delta State since the financial institution established its first branch in Warri in 1994.
