Oborevwori Hails Ohworode of Olomu on Emergence as Chairman of Body of Benchers


Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom, His Majesty Albert Akpomudje, SAN, FCIArb, Eyavwie-Alaka I, on his emergence as the 54th Chairman of the Nigerian Body of Benchers, describing it as a proud moment for Delta State.

In a statement issued in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor said the appointment has further projected Delta State on the national stage, highlighting the calibre of leadership and professionalism the state continues to produce.

Governor Oborevwori noted that the elevation of the revered monarch and accomplished legal practitioner has been warmly received across Delta, especially within Olomu Kingdom, where his leadership continues to inspire confidence and respect.

“On behalf of my family, the government and the good people of Delta State, I warmly congratulate His Majesty, Albert Akpomudje, SAN, FCIArb, Eyavwie-Alaka I, the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom, on his emergence as the 54th Chairman of the Nigerian Body of Benchers,” the governor said.

He commended the monarch’s distinguished career in the legal profession, noting that his wealth of experience and integrity would contribute significantly to strengthening the standards and discipline of the legal system in Nigeria.

The governor also acknowledged the significance of the position, describing the Body of Benchers as a critical institution responsible for maintaining the ethics and professional conduct of legal practitioners in the country.

Akpomudje, a seasoned legal luminary and the 14th Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom, ascended the throne in November 2025 and has continued to combine traditional leadership with professional excellence.

His emergence as Chairman of the Body of Benchers, succeeding former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, is widely seen as a reflection of his competence, leadership capacity, and long-standing contributions to the legal profession.
