Lewandowski’s Barcelona Season in Jeopardy Due to Hamstring Injury
Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has been dealt an injury blow, suffering a hamstring problem in his left thigh. The Polish striker’s availability for the start of the La Liga season is now in doubt.
According to a statement released by Barcelona, Lewandowski is currently “unavailable” due to the injury. The 36-year-old will miss Sunday’s friendly match against Como, casting further doubt on his participation in Barcelona’s La Liga opener against Mallorca on August 16.
“The first team player Robert Lewandowski is experiencing a hamstring issue in his left thigh,” stated Barcelona in an official communiqué, refraining from detailing the anticipated duration of the Polish striker’s absence from the pitch.
Lewandowski demonstrated remarkable form last season, scoring 42 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions for the Catalan outfit, contributing significantly to Hansi Flick’s squad as they secured the Spanish league, cup, and super cup titles.
