Guinness World Records Confirms Hilda Baci’s Jollof Rice Feat

Guinness World Records (GWR) has confirmed that Nigerian chef Hilda Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, has achieved a new milestone by setting the record for the Largest Serving of Nigerian-Style Jollof Rice.

The confirmation came on Monday in a post shared via GWR’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.

The post read, “New record: Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice – 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.”

The record-breaking feat took place on Saturday, September 13, in Victoria Island, Lagos, where Hilda teamed up with food brand Gino to cook 200 bags of Basmati rice using a giant pot. The event drew huge crowds, including food enthusiasts, fans, and notable personalities, all eager to witness the historic achievement.

The new record highlights Nigeria’s rich food culture and further cements jollof rice as one of the country’s most celebrated dishes on the global stage.
