EPL: Liverpool Thrash Bournemouth 4-2 in Opener
Liverpool began their Premier League title defence with a thrilling 4-2 win over Bournemouth at Anfield on Friday.
Hugo Ekitike opened the scoring in the 37th minute with a low finish before Cody Gakpo made it 2-0 in the 51st minute from close range.
Bournemouth hit back as Antoine Semenyo struck twice a sharp finish in the 62nd minute and another in the 77th after a driving run to level the game.
In the 88th minute, Federico Chiesa volleyed Liverpool back in front, and Mohamed Salah sealed victory in stoppage time with a composed finish.
The match was briefly halted after Semenyo reported racial abuse from the crowd. The night was also marked by emotional tributes to the late Diogo Jota before kickoff.
