DTHA Amends the Traditional Stool of Umukwata Kingdom

Delta State House of Assembly on Wednesday 9th November, 2016, passed a request of Umukwata Kingdom in the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council and Chiefs Law Amendment Bill 2016.

This particular amendment bill sought to change the name of the traditional stool of Umukwata Kingdom from the gerontocratic name of Okpala uku to the Ukwuta of Umukwata.

The request was made by the council of Chief Makers of Umukwuta Kingdom sighting the dynamic need of the Kingdom to reckon with modern realities in the traditional issues and chieftaincy affairs. “That the name Okpala uku which connotes the most elderly man in the kingdom be changed to the Ukwuta of Umukwata”.
