Delta Guber Race: AGAP, A Better Option To PDP And APC says Omu, Ugwumba


The candidates of All Grand Alliance Party, AGAP in the coming saturday’s gubernatorial election in Delta State, Chief Brando Omu and Dr Rukevwe Ugwumba, have said that AGAP is a better option to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and All Progressives Congress, APC.

Addressing a mammount crowd at Uwheru, Ughelli North local government area, Chief Omu and Dr Ugwumba expressed optimism of victory at the poll, stressing that Deltans are desirous of positive change.

Dr Ugwumba, a former Special Adviser on Health to the Delta State Government and Consultant to the Senate Committee on Health, who was first to address her people, said she pitched tent with the AGAP Governorship Candidate, Chief Brando Omu to develop the state to the envy of other states.

“This ceremony is to thank you all for listening to me by voting for President Muhammadu Buhari in the 23rd February 2019 presidential election. Buhari won in my Uwheru Ward 9. That victory was made possible by the believe and respect you have for me as your daughter. So I must come back to say thank you and give you direction for coming Saturday Governorship and State House of Assembly elections”.  Dr Ugwumba said.

Continuing “9th March 2019 is a date for us to change the destiny of Delta State for better. Like you did for President Buhari, I enjoin you all to turn out en masse on Saturday to vote for AGAP candidates for the governorship election. We have a mission to fix Delta State. The party’s manifesto is clear and all point to better and greater Delta State. We have designed a comprehensive road map to achieve the set goals within the next four years”.

Dr Ugwumba, an Associate Professor in Family Medicine, University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine, Canada, stated that her desire to serve as the new Deputy Governor of Delta State was divine and achievable with the support of Deltans.

Stressing that there was the need for her to join forces with people of great minds to build a more united and prosperous state, Dr Ugwumba, said “we will use the resources of Delta State wisely to the benefit of all Deltans”.

In his remarks, the governorship candidate, Chief Brando Omu thanked the Owheru community for their solidarity, urging them to hold their daughter to every promise made by the party in its electioneering campaign.

“I am appealing to you people to vote for me and your daughter on Saturday to rewrite the history of Delta State. Your daughter is a medical doctor. We went abroad to drag her to come and help build a better Delta State. In our 180 days in office we will come back here to commission a world class hospital. We will do that to honor her. Deltans will enjoy good healthcare facilities. Free education at all levels will commence two days after our inauguration. There will be good roads everywhere. ICT will be at it peak. I urge you all to take your destiny in your hour. Vote for me and your daughter to better your lives”, Chief Omu stressed.

The State Chairman of the party, Chief Alex Oyoro acknowledged the support of the people and urged them to vote for the AGAP candidates on Saturday.

Some respondents described Dr Rukevwe Ugwumba as a worthy daughter of the Owheru community and promised to mobilize greater support for her and her party in the Saturday’s Governorship election.

The high point of ceremony was vote of confidence on the AGAP Governorship candidate, Chief Brando Omu and his running mate, Dr Rukevwe Ugwumba by their supporters.
