Aaron Anselmino Returns to Chelsea After Borussia Dortmund Loan
Chelsea FC have officially recalled Argentine defender Aaron Anselmino from his loan at Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, activating a clause in his loan agreement to end the stint early.
The decision, confirmed by Borussia Dortmund, sees the 20-year-old centre-back return to Stamford Bridge ahead of the winter transfer deadline after making 10 appearances for the German club in all competitions this season.
Anselmino, who signed for Chelsea in 2024 from Boca Juniors, had been loaned to Dortmund for the 2025/26 campaign. The recall clause allows Chelsea to terminate the loan early, bringing the Argentine back to England as they reassess their defensive options.
During his time in the Bundesliga, Anselmino scored once and featured across league, cup and Champions League matches for Dortmund, who publicly thanked him for his contributions and wished him well upon his departure.
The move marks a notable mid-season personnel shift for Chelsea, with the club reviewing their squad depth ahead of key Premier League fixtures and the remainder of the transfer window.
