BREAKING: Sowore in Police Custody After #JusticeForNnamdiKanu Protest
Human rights activist and 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has been arrested by the police in Abuja following a #JusticeForNnamdiKanu protest.
Sowore was reportedly picked up on Thursday by armed policemen at the Federal High Court, Abuja, where he had gone to show solidarity with the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
Confirming the arrest, the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, told Channels Television that Sowore is currently in police custody and will be charged to court today.
According to Hundeyin, the activist was arrested for violating a subsisting court order that prohibited public protests calling for Kanu’s release.
