Asharami Energy, Sahara Group Foundation Renovates Koko Police Station


Asharami Energy, a Sahara Group Upstream Oil and Gas company, has inaugurated the recently renovated Koko Police Station in Delta state, demonstrating its steadfast commitment to bolstering security in Koko and the surrounding areas.

This endeavor, facilitated by Sahara Group Foundation, the corporate social sustainability arm of Sahara Group, exemplifies the organization’s dedication to effecting positive change within its host communities.

Ejiro Gray, Director of Sahara Group Foundation, expressed the foundation’s unwavering commitment to improving lives and livelihoods in the regions where it operates. Gray stated, “At Sahara Group Foundation, we are fully committed to impacting lives and livelihoods wherever we operate. Our unwavering commitment to promoting a sustainable environment is reflected through projects like this. The installation of solar panels will facilitate access to clean and reliable energy, helping the police carry out its activities seamlessly.”

Gray also extended appreciation to the Nigerian Police Force for their cooperation throughout the renovation process. Sahara Group Foundation is eager to continue partnering with like-minded organizations to enhance the well-being of communities.

The newly inaugurated Koko Police Station showcases a range of enhancements, including structural repairs and aesthetic improvements to the building, plumbing upgrades, and the installation of solar power. Additionally, a new office block/building has been constructed to accommodate investigative officers.

Babatomiwa Adesida, Head of Stakeholder and Community Relations at Asharami Energy, emphasized that the project would play a pivotal role in promoting sustainable policing, fostering economic growth, and advancing development within the community. Adesida stated, “The renovation of the Koko Police Station reinforces Asharami Energy’s commitment to working collaboratively with its host communities to drive sustainable development. Security is a critical requirement for the well-being of any community, and we are confident that the project will support the activities of the Police, improve security remarkably, and give the good people of Koko the confidence to pursue their dreams.”

CSP Offordile Leonard, Deputy Police Commissioner at Koko Police Station, praised Asharami Energy and the Sahara Group Foundation for their significant contributions to the Koko police station. He emphasized that the renovated Police Station would significantly boost the morale of the officers, enhancing their efforts in promoting peace and security in the Koko area and neighboring communities.

The renovation of the Koko Police Station forms part of a series of completed and ongoing projects to enhance police stations across the country, led by the Sahara Group Foundation. Notable among these are the renovations of the Ijede Police Station, Ipaje Police Station, Omagwa Police Station, Onne Police Station, MMA Police Station, Trinity Police Station, Ologbo Police Station, and several others.
