“We Are Ready for 2027” — Ikpokpo Rallies APC Members, Congratulates Oborevwori, Tinubu
A former Delta South Senatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Sir Itiako “Malik” Ikpokpo, has declared that the party is fully prepared for the 2027 general elections, urging members and stakeholders to intensify grassroots mobilisation to secure total victory for the party.
Ikpokpo, a former Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Council and former Chairman of Delta State ALGON, made the call while receiving the APC Delta South Senatorial candidate, Joel Onowakpo-Thomas, at his country home in Uro following the conclusion of the party’s primary elections.
According to him, the APC must sustain its momentum by taking its message directly to the people across communities, wards and polling units ahead of the elections.
“We are prepared. We need the Presidency as much as we need the Governorship. This is not the time for bickering. We must continue to talk to our people and rally support across the communities,” Ikpokpo said.
He stressed the need for constant engagement with the electorate through town hall meetings and community interactions, noting that party faithful must explain government policies and address concerns raised by residents.
“It is time to go to the wards and units, sit with the people and explain things clearly. As we move closer to the elections, many of the challenges being discussed will become clearer to the people,” he added.
Speaking on his withdrawal from the Delta South APC senatorial race, Ikpokpo admitted that he had reservations about the conduct of the process but insisted that politics should not create division among party members.
“We only contested an election. He is my brother. I did not think the process was fair, and I made my position clear. But there is no fight or quarrel. We disagreed on issues relating to representation, but now we must move forward together,” he stated.
The former council chairman also commended Sheriff Oborevwori for what he described as impressive performance in office, expressing confidence that the governor would secure re-election in 2027.
“I do not think the chances of Governor Oborevwori’s re-election are in doubt. He has started well and we believe he can do even better in a second term, especially for our people in Isoko,” he said.
Ikpokpo further described the massive turnout recorded during the APC governorship and presidential primaries as a demonstration of support for both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori.
“In the past few days, we mobilised strongly to demonstrate our support for the M.O.R.E. Agenda and the Renewed Hope Agenda. Our participation was to prove that the people of Delta State stand firmly behind President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori,” he said.
He assured party supporters in Delta South and across the state that the APC remained united and focused on delivering victory in the 2027 elections.
