Spotify to Increase Premium Subscription Price in Nigeria from September

Music streaming giant Spotify has announced plans to raise the monthly cost of its Premium Individual subscription in select markets, including Nigeria, starting September 2025.

In an official blog post released on Monday, the platform confirmed that the new monthly price will increase from €10.99 to €11.99 (N19,344.60 to N21,104.80) across several regions. These include South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific.

Spotify stated that existing subscribers will begin receiving emails outlining the price adjustment in the coming weeks. The message will read in part, “Thank you for being a valued Premium subscriber. Starting on your billing date in September, your subscription price will change from €10.99/month to €11.99/month.”

The company said the pricing update is necessary to support ongoing product enhancements and improved user experience.

“To continue to innovate on our product offerings and features and bring users the best experience, we occasionally update our prices,” the statement added.

This development follows a trend of global streaming services adjusting pricing to reflect growing operational and development costs.

Subscribers in Nigeria and other affected regions are advised to monitor their emails for official communication from Spotify regarding the new billing structure.
