Delta Speaker Reaffirms Legislature’s Support for Oborevwori’s Development Agenda
The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has reiterated the commitment of the State Legislature to continue collaborating with the Executive Arm for sustainable peace, good governance, and all-round development across Delta State.
Rt. Hon. Guwor gave the assurance when he received members of the College of Former Commissioners (2015–2023), who served under former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, during a courtesy visit to the State House of Assembly complex in Asaba.
The Speaker lauded Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for setting a development standard that, according to him, would be difficult to surpass by future administrations.
“Governor Oborevwori is doing excellently well with landmark projects across the senatorial districts, empowering women and youths, and strengthening peace and security in the state,” Guwor said.
He described the governor’s performance as a product of diligence, focus, and commitment to delivering on his MORE Agenda, adding that the legislature would continue to provide legislative backing through enabling laws, oversight, and stakeholder engagement.
“The Delta State Assembly under my leadership will continue to interface with all critical stakeholders, including you, to ensure more successes are achieved by our indefatigable Governor,” he added.
Guwor commended members of the College of Former Commissioners for their service under the Okowa administration, noting that their contributions to Delta’s progress remain visible in various sectors. He also encouraged them to continue supporting the Oborevwori administration and expressed delight that some members of the group were still serving in government.
Earlier, the Deputy Dean of the College of Former Commissioners, and former Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Prince Emmanuel Amgbaduba, who represented the Dean, Sir Fidelis Tilije, said the visit was to commend the State Legislature for its harmonious working relationship with the Executive, which has fostered peace and development in Delta State.
Amgbaduba praised Governor Oborevwori for transforming the state into what he described as “a construction site” with numerous completed and ongoing projects across the three senatorial districts.
He pledged the group’s unwavering support for the governor’s administration and reaffirmed their readiness to work toward his re-election in 2027.
“We served under former Governor Okowa and contributed our best to advance the state. We also played key roles in the emergence of Governor Oborevwori, and we remain solidly behind his MORE Agenda, determined to see him through to 2031,” Amgbaduba said.
