Postecoglou to Replace Nuno as Nottingham Forest Head Coach
Ange Postecoglou has agreed to take over as head coach of Nottingham Forest, following the club’s decision to part ways with Nuno Espirito Santo.
According to Punch on Tuesday, the 60-year-old Australian tactician is set to return to Premier League management after finalising an agreement ahead of Forest’s upcoming clash with Arsenal.
The former Tottenham Hotspur boss held talks with Forest earlier this week, with both parties moving swiftly to reach an understanding. Postecoglou will become the club’s eighth permanent manager since Evangelos Marinakis assumed ownership in 2017.
Postecoglou was dismissed by Spurs at the end of last season after a disappointing Premier League campaign in which they finished 17th. However, he guided the club to a historic Europa League triumph, ending their long trophy drought.
Forest currently sit 10th in the Premier League table after three matches. Nuno’s final game in charge came in a 3-0 defeat to West Ham before September’s international break.
The 51-year-old Portuguese coach, who took charge of Forest in December 2023 following Steve Cooper’s dismissal, successfully helped preserve the club’s top-flight status.
Last season, he led them to a remarkable seventh-place finish in the Premier League, their best since the 1994/95 campaign, earning Forest a place in European competition for the first time in three decades.
