Pastor Adefarasin Granted Bail, ‘Gun-like Object’ Recovered – Police
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that the object seen in a viral video featuring Pastor Paul Adefarasin is not a firearm but a prohibited stun gun classified as anti-riot equipment.
This clarification was issued on Tuesday through an official statement posted on the command’s verified X (formerly Twitter) handle.
The statement followed widespread public concern over a video showing the House on the Rock founder wielding what appeared to be a firearm while driving an unregistered vehicle.
According to the police, Pastor Adefarasin voluntarily reported himself to authorities and has fully cooperated with the ongoing investigation.
“Pastor Paul Adefarasin, who turned himself in today at the Lagos State Police Command over a viral video where he was seen holding a gun-like object against another road user, was interrogated and he volunteered cautionary statement to the police investigators,” the statement read.
The command disclosed that the object featured in the video was recovered and confirmed not to be a lethal weapon but a stun gun.
A stun gun is a portable, battery-operated device designed for self-defence. It delivers a high voltage electrical shock to temporarily incapacitate an attacker, causing intense pain and muscle contraction. While considered a non-lethal, stun guns can still lead to injuries.
“What was recovered from him, the gun-like object seen in the viral video, is not a lethal weapon or firearm but a stun gun which is a prohibited anti-riot equipment,” the police stated.
Pastor Adefarasin has since been granted administrative bail, and police authorities assured the public that the outcome of the investigation will be made public upon its conclusion.
“The pastor has been granted bail while investigations continue into the case,” the statement concluded.
