Oborevwori Celebrates Three Years in Office, Says Delta Achieved Growth Without Borrowing

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Friday declared that his administration has successfully executed major development projects across the state without borrowing a single kobo, attributing the achievements of the past three years to the grace, wisdom and mercy of God.

The governor made the declaration during the 2026 Delta State Thanksgiving and Praise Day held at the Dome Event Centre, Asaba, as the administration marked its third anniversary in office.

Speaking before a large gathering of political leaders, government officials, traditional rulers, clergy and residents, Oborevwori said the occasion was not only to celebrate achievements but also to publicly appreciate God for sustaining his administration since assuming office on May 29, 2023.

According to him, the last three years have witnessed aggressive infrastructural development, people-oriented programmes and strategic investments aimed at improving the welfare of Deltans.

“Today, we are celebrating three years of this administration. Indeed, this is the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our sight,” the governor stated.

In what appeared to be a bold response to critics questioning the state’s finances, Oborevwori stressed that every contract awarded by his administration was fully backed by available funds.

“We are here to thank God for the wisdom to execute development projects all over the state without borrowing a kobo from anybody or bank. Every contract we award, the money is available,” he declared.

The governor also praised the prevailing peace and security in Delta State, noting that stability had continued to attract investors and strengthen the state’s position as one of Nigeria’s leading oil-producing states.

Oborevwori commended security agencies for maintaining law and order and appreciated former governors James Ibori, Emmanuel Uduaghan and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for laying foundations his administration continues to build upon.

He further thanked Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme, the Delta State House of Assembly led by Speaker Emomotimi Guwor, traditional rulers, civil servants and political stakeholders for supporting the administration’s M.O.R.E agenda.

Calling for unity among Deltans, the governor urged residents to continue supporting his administration as it moves into the final phase of its first tenure.

“Delta State is our home. We don’t have any other state. With unity, Delta will continue to move forward and become an envy of other states,” he said.

The thanksgiving service also featured a sermon by renowned cleric, Apostle Joshua Selman, who charged leaders and citizens to remain connected to God as the foundation for lasting progress and prosperity.

The event witnessed powerful praise sessions by gospel artistes including Dunsin Oyekan, Moses Bliss, Asu Ekiye and others, while a major highlight was the cutting of the administration’s third anniversary cake.

Top dignitaries present included former governors James Ibori and Ifeanyi Okowa, Senators Joel-Onowakpo Thomas and Ede Dafinone, lawmakers, political leaders and traditional rulers from across the state.
