Oborevwori Seeks NDDC, Chevron Partnership for Omadino–Escravos Road
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) to deliver the transformative Omadino–Okerenkoko–Escravos Road and Bridges project.
Speaking at the inauguration of the NDDC State Office in Warri, Governor Oborevwori described the project as a game-changing infrastructure initiative that will open up Delta State’s coastal communities, improve economic activities, and enhance access to vital oil and gas facilities.
He announced that a tripartite meeting involving the Delta State Government, NDDC, and Chevron would be convened in the coming weeks to establish a clear roadmap for the commencement of the project.
Governor Oborevwori stated: “I want to say that Delta State is ready to partner with the NDDC and Chevron to deliver it. Delta State is not afraid to take on big projects. We are ready. I was born and raised here. I know what is needed. And I say again, we are ready to take on any project.”
He emphasized that the partnership will accelerate delivery and ensure sustainable regional development, adding that his administration maintains an open-door policy for collaborations that bring tangible benefits to the people.
The Governor further explained that discussions with Chevron and other stakeholders will begin next month to move the project forward, assuring Deltans of transparency and accountability in project execution.
According to the project plan summary, the Omadino–Okerenkoko–Escravos–Ugborodo Road will span 70.76 kilometres and include 29 bridges, connecting major oil-producing and riverine communities in Warri South and Warri South-West Local Government Areas.
Upon completion, the road will provide direct access to Chevron’s Escravos Export Terminal and significantly enhance economic activities, improve security response, and promote regional peace.
Governor Oborevwori noted that the initiative aligns with his administration’s MORE Agenda, positioning the project to become one of the landmark infrastructure legacies of his tenure.
