Liverpool’s Salah Wins FWA Player of the Year for the Third Time
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has won the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year award for a record third time, solidifying his status as one of the greatest players in the Premier League.
With an astonishing 28 goals and 18 assists this season, Salah led Liverpool to a historic 20th English title, breaking the record for most goal involvements in a 38-game Premier League campaign.
The Egyptian forward dominated the voting, securing almost 90% of the football writers’ votes, the largest winning margin this century. Virgil van Dijk, Alexander Isak, and Declan Rice followed in second, third, and fourth places, respectively.
This achievement marks Salah’s third FWA Player of the Year award, joining Thierry Henry with three wins.
Recently, Salah signed a new two-year contract with Liverpool, keeping him at Anfield until 2027 and setting the stage for the Reds to win a record 21st title next season.
In the women’s category, Alessia Russo claimed the award, becoming the second Arsenal player to do so, finishing ahead of last year’s winner Khadija Shaw.
