IGCC: Ajiniran Emerges Winner of Sunday Kitty Group Golf Tournament 


Femi Ajiniran has emerged winner of the third edition of the Sunday Kitty Group, SKG, Golf Tournament of the Ibori Golf and Country Club, IGCC, Asaba, the Delta State capital.

Ajiniran Came top in the tournament after driving in 67 Nett to beat Gibson Lee and Kingsley Osagbobu to second and third positions in the Net Men SKG category.

Over eighty golfers from within and outside Delta State took part in the tournament which saw Charles Okoh picking the Gross Men SKG category top prized after firing in 77 Gross, beating Sifo Oniti and Awele to second and third place.

Igho Ugbegu collected the top prized in the Ladies Best Gross SKG category after rolling in 93 Gross with Chika Okorodudu picking the top prize in the Ladies Net SKG category after swinging in 73 Net.

Mrs Phil Obanor claimed the Ladies Guest trophy after hitting 88 Net, while Retired Wing Commander Peter Iweze fired in 72 Net to pick the Guest Men category top prize.

Sunday Kitty Group Golf Tournament

The Vice Captain of the Ibori Golf and Country Club and Chairman of the 3rd Edition of the SKG Kitty, Dr Chuks Nwani said the tournament was designed to promote the game of golf and to give golfers opportunity to play good golf.

Dr Nwani who took the ceremonial Tee-Off, together with the Director General, Delta Capital Territory Development Agency, Chief Patrick Ukah, said the tournament was key to the growth of the game of golf in the IGCC as well as provide a platform to strengthen the camaraderie among the members.

He asserted that the tournament would continue to build on its successes towards creating an atmosphere of friendly competition.

Other members of the IGCC who spoke commended the SKG for the level of competition as it had helped in improving the standard of the game at the IGCC.

They enjoined the group to sustain the tempo as that would help in making them better players especially when they face off against other players from other golf clubs across the country.

The respondents noted that while taking out time to unwind, the 2023 edition of the tournament met the aspirations of the SKG as the tournament was well attended by golfers.

The highlight of the tournament was the presentation of prizes to winners as well as souvenirs to friends and well wishers of the IGCC Asaba.
