DSCTDA Launches Major Cleanup at Koka Bridge, Intensifies Sanitation Drive in Asaba
The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has commenced a targeted environmental cleanup exercise at Koka Bridge in Asaba as part of sustained efforts to improve sanitation and maintain the aesthetic outlook of the Delta State capital.
The intervention, which began on February 18, 2026, was executed by the Agency’s Environment Unit and focused on the evacuation of indiscriminately dumped refuse, human waste, and sand deposits along the bridge corridor.
The operation was supervised by the Head of Environment of the Agency, Mr. Isaac Nwosu, who led the cleanup team to ensure the effective removal of environmental pollutants and restoration of orderliness within the axis.
Speaking on the development, the Director-General of the Agency, Patrick Ukah, said the exercise aligns with the Agency’s statutory responsibility to keep the capital territory clean, safe, and environmentally sustainable.
Ukah emphasized that environmental sanitation remains a critical priority for the Agency, adding that the intervention would extend into the following day with the continued evacuation of sand and residual waste materials from the area.
He called on residents, traders, and commuters to support government efforts by desisting from indiscriminate waste disposal and adopting responsible sanitation habits.
The cleanup forms part of DSCTDA’s broader environmental management drive aimed at promoting a healthier and more livable capital city for residents and visitors alike.
