FG Suspends Immigration, Civil Defence Recruitment Over System Crash

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has announced the temporary suspension of its recruitment portal, just two days after it was opened for applications into four federal paramilitary agencies.

The portal, which serves applicants seeking to join the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Fire Service (NFS), and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), was suspended due to technical glitches.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, AM Jubril, Secretary to the Board, explained that the pause is aimed at improving the system’s performance to better handle the volume of applications being submitted.

“This development will ensure that the portal accommodates the high volume of applications while guaranteeing a smooth, transparent, and fair recruitment process,” the statement read.

He further disclosed that the portal will resume operations on Monday, July 21, assuring the public of the board’s commitment to a credible and inclusive selection process.

“We appreciate the enthusiasm and interest of young Nigerians to serve their country through these vital agencies and are committed to ensuring a fair and transparent recruitment process,” the statement added.

This marks the third official update from the CDCFIB since the portal was first opened on July 14. Shortly after going live, users encountered difficulty accessing the site, prompting an earlier statement from the board that read:

“A new few updates is set to be added for your easy navigation, optimal performance and complete field entries.”

Despite the clarifications, frustration has mounted online as many applicants have continued to report persistent issues with the platform.

“After inputting my NIN and phone numbers, this Error 405 keeps occurring and keeps taking me back to the home page, and I have to start over since 3:30 am… what could be the problem?” one user wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Others have echoed similar concerns, stating they have been unable to access the portal at all since applications were declared open.

As anticipation builds among job seekers, the CDCFIB has urged patience, assuring applicants that all technical issues are being addressed and that the portal will be fully functional by the new reopening date.
