FG Blames Delayed June Salaries on “Technical Glitch”
The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has attributed the non-payment of June 2025 salaries to some federal government workers to a technical glitch during salary processing.
In a statement released on Friday, the Director of Press and Public Relations at the OAGF, Bawa Mokwa, confirmed that following complaints from affected workers, an investigation revealed that the issue particularly impacted employees with salary accounts domiciled in Zenith Bank.
“Upon investigation, it was discovered that the salary payments for employees across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, MDAs, were affected due to a technical network glitch during the processing of salaries at the bank,” the statement read.
The OAGF expressed regret over the situation, acknowledging the anxiety and frustration it has caused.
“We deeply regret the inconvenience this unfortunate incident has caused and wish to assure all affected employees that immediate steps have been taken to resolve the issue,” Mokwa stated.
The office said it is working with the relevant service providers and stakeholders to ensure the failed payments are reprocessed without further delay.
“We appeal to all affected staff of the Federal Public Service to remain calm and rest assured that no effort will be spared in ensuring everyone receives their rightful salaries,” the statement continued.
Mokwa also noted that concrete steps have been taken to isolate the problem and that arrangements are underway to reprocess the failed payments in the shortest possible time.
“The welfare of federal government employees remains a top priority of the office,” he added.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to payroll integrity, Mokwa stated, “The OAGF remains fully committed to transparency, accountability, and efficiency in all payroll operations and is open to continuous engagement with stakeholders to ensure sustained improvements in our service delivery.”
Affected workers have been asked to remain patient as the issue is being resolved.
