Effurun Tanker Disaster: Okowa’s Aide Commiserates With Victim’s Family


The Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Petroleum monitoring, Mr Oghenekome Okpobor has lamented the death of Seven pupils of David Ejoor Primary School and Army Children School, Effurun in an accident involving a tanker laden with petroleum products.

The sad incident which occurred opposite Army’s 3rd battalion Effurun on Thursday, July 8, 2021, according to the Governor’s aide, has left a sour taste in the mouth of Deltans.

In his commiseration statement, Mr Okpobor said, “it is absolutely gut wrenching! Nobody wishes to experience such a thing, these were innocent children on their way home, and now they are victims of this unfortunate tragedy.

“As parents we have a responsibility to provide an enabling environment for our children to thrive in peace, quite frankly tanker drivers must be checked, and these incessant accidents must be put to a stop.

“We are on a fact finding mission to ascertain the cause of the accident and we will come up with a lasting solution to curb this menace and prevent reoccurrence.

“My sincere condolences go out to the families of the children, May almighty God give them the fortitude to bear such great losses.”
