Democracy Day: It’s a Pleasure to Witness PDP in Disarray – Tinubu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken a swipe at the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), saying it is a “pleasure” to see the party in disarray.
He made the statement on Wednesday during his address to the nation as part of Nigeria’s 2025 Democracy Day celebrations.
While delivering his speech, President Tinubu said, “I would not say try your best to put your house in order, I would not help you to do so either. It is indeed a pleasure to witness you in such a disarray.”
The president’s comments were seen as a pointed reference to the ongoing internal crises within the PDP, which has been struggling with leadership tussles and defections in recent months.
Tinubu, who leads the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), also used the occasion to extend an open invitation to disenchanted members of other political parties.
“We would be guilty of political malpractice if we close our doors on those from other parties who now seek to join the APC. Nobody should close the door. You are all welcome to the Progressives fold,” he declared.
