Delta Speaker Confirms Defection of 22 PDP Lawmakers to APC
The speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor has said that all 22 PDP members of the Delta State Legislature have joined Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Speaker stated that the decision was driven by a commitment to Delta State’s progress and was made after wide consultations.
Speaking at an enlarged gathering of political leaders in Warri South West at Ogbe-Ijoh, headquarters of the local government council, Guwor said every stakeholder in PDP saw the need for the movement, adding that governance in Delta State has always been conducted in the spirit of one big family.
Guwor cited leadership crisis in PDP at the federal level and the need for better alignment with the federal government as major factors behind the defection. He expressed optimism that the state would leverage APC’s national presence and resources for growth.
The Speaker said, “Besides the irreconcilable disagreements in PDP’s leadership at the federal level, there has been this desire for increased federal funding and support that would engender opportunities for infrastructure development.”
He assured that the Delta State House of Assembly would remain dedicated to serving the state and working tirelessly for its advancement.
