The Delta State Sports Commission has officially unveiled the Delta Queens squad ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season, which kicks off this weekend.

The ceremony, held in Asaba, signaled the state’s readiness for another competitive year in Nigerian women’s football.

During the presentation, the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Onoriode Oborevwori, expressed strong confidence in the squad’s preparations and reaffirmed the Delta State Government’s commitment to supporting the team throughout the season.

Oborevwori described Delta Queens as a “symbol of pride, resilience, and excellence,” noting that the club continues to inspire young female footballers across the state and beyond.

He emphasized that the administration remains dedicated to advancing women’s football through improved welfare, training facilities, and developmental programmes.

With the NWFL season set to commence on November 26, 2025, Delta Queens will begin their campaign with a crucial away clash against Nasarawa Amazons, one of the league’s toughest sides.

The fixture marks the beginning of what is expected to be a highly competitive season as the Queens aim to reclaim domestic dominance.

The unveiling also showcased the club’s blend of experienced players and rising stars, signaling a renewed drive to compete for the league title and secure a return to continental football.

The Delta State Sports Commission encouraged fans to rally behind the team, stressing that community support remains vital to the success of Delta Queens in the new season.
