Christian Eriksen Joins Wolfsburg on Free Transfer Until 2027
Denmark international Christian Eriksen has joined German Bundesliga club Wolfsburg on a free transfer until 2027, the club confirmed on Wednesday.
Eriksen, 33, had been a free agent after his contract with Manchester United expired during the summer.
“I’m really looking forward to this new adventure. I’m convinced that together we can make a difference in Wolfsburg,” Eriksen said in a statement.
This marks Eriksen’s third club since his cardiac arrest during Denmark’s game against Finland at the Euro 2021 tournament. Although he made a remarkable comeback after receiving an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), Italian regulations prevented him from competing with Inter Milan.
After a successful six-month spell at Brentford, Eriksen joined Manchester United in 2022. While initially successful, he gradually fell out of favour under Erik ten Hag and later Ruben Amorim, leaving the club at the end of last season.
Earlier in his career, Eriksen also played for Tottenham Hotspur and Ajax, earning 144 caps for Denmark and scoring 46 goals.
Eriksen now joins Wolfsburg’s Danish contingent, which includes Joakim Maehle, Jesper Lindstrom, Andreas Skov Olsen, Jonas Wind, and Adam Daghim.
