BREAKING: Immigration Hands Over Arrested Enugu Native Doctor to Police
The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service has handed over a wanted suspect, Obi Levi Obieze, to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation into serious criminal allegations, including abduction, kidnapping, and ritual killing.
The handover was confirmed in a statement on Friday by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, via his official X handle.
“ONGOING: @nigimmigration, Lagos State Command hands over wanted suspect, Obi Levi Obieze, to @LagosPoliceNG at the Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja,” Hundeyin announced.
Obieze, also known as Levi Obu Onyeka, was apprehended on May 29, 2025, by Immigration operatives at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme Road, as he attempted to flee the country on a motorcycle.
His arrest followed credible intelligence linking him to the abduction and alleged ritual killing of a 13-year-old girl in the Isiagu Community of Enugu State.
Confirming the arrest, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, issued a statement through the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, on Thursday.
“The suspect is a male individual wanted by the Nigeria Police Enugu State Command for alleged involvement in abduction, kidnapping, and ritual killing,” the statement read.
Obieze, a native doctor from Umuajor village in Enugu State, was reportedly part of a three-man gang that abducted the girl on May 27, 2025, while she was walking to the farm with her father. The victim was later rescued from a shrine allegedly linked to the suspect.
According to Immigration officials, Obieze’s identity was verified through a National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) enrollment slip found on him. He is also reported to have confessed to the crimes during preliminary interrogation.
The suspect has now been transferred to the appropriate authorities as investigations continue.
