BREAKING: FCT Head of Service Grace Adayilo Is Dead


The Head of the Civil Service of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mrs. Grace Adayilo, has passed away.

According to reports, Adayilo, who made history as the pioneer and first female Head of Service of the FCT, reportedly died in the early hours of Monday, September 1, 2025.

The sad news was confirmed by her Special Assistant on Media, Anthony Odey, in a brief text message to journalists. “Yes, please,” Odey wrote, without providing further details about the circumstances surrounding her death.

President Bola Tinubu had approved Adayilo’s appointment as the FCT Head of Service on October 6, 2024, with the appointment taking immediate effect. Her elevation was widely celebrated as a milestone, breaking new ground for women in public service.

Before becoming HoS, Adayilo served as the Permanent Secretary of the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, where she contributed significantly to policy development and administration.

As of the time of filing this report, neither her family nor the FCT Administration has released an official statement regarding her death.
