Aig-Imoukhuede Projects Delta State Security Trust Fund to Hit ₦100 Billion in 2025


Group Chairman of Access Holdings Plc, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, CFR, has projected that the Delta State Security Trust Fund could mobilize up to ₦100 billion in 2025, describing the initiative as a defining moment in the state’s development journey.

Speaking at the formal launch of the Delta State Security Trust Fund on Wednesday at the Government House, Asaba, Aig-Imoukhuede commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s leadership and commitment to building a safer and more prosperous Delta through public-private collaboration. He described the governor as “a driver and enabler of progress,” adding that Delta’s sustained peace and infrastructural growth were proof of effective governance.

Aig-Imoukhuede, who chaired the event, announced a personal donation of ₦100 million on behalf of himself and his wife, Ofure, noting that the launch marked the beginning of a long-term collective effort to strengthen the state’s security architecture. “This launch does not end today—it begins today. Together, we will continue to strengthen the foundation for Delta’s safety and growth,” he stated.

Governor Oborevwori, in his remarks, reaffirmed that the Trust Fund—established by law in 2013—was designed to pool private-sector resources to complement government investments in security. He emphasized that effective security required shared responsibility, disclosing that 0.5 percent of the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) would be allocated monthly to the fund.

He said the fund would be used to acquire modern surveillance equipment, operational vehicles, and communication tools, while also supporting the training and retraining of security personnel and community vigilantes across the state’s 25 local government areas.

The event, which brought together captains of industry, security chiefs, and community leaders, also featured a ₦10 billion donation from High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) through Tantita Security Services Limited. Zenith Bank Founder and Chairman, Mr. Jim Ovia, CON, who served as Special Guest of Honour, pledged continued partnership with the state, commending the initiative as a bold and forward-looking step toward ensuring sustainable peace and economic growth.

Other speakers, including retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Marvel Akpoyibo and Executive Secretary of the Delta State Security Trust Fund, Mr. Samuel Osasa, underscored the importance of technology, collaboration, and accountability in building a lasting security framework for Delta State.
