Tompolo Reemerges After a Decade as Oborevwori Launches Delta Security Trust Fund, Orders Crackdown on Criminal Networks
Delta State witnessed a historic moment on Thursday as High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) made his first major public appearance in more than a decade, serving as Chief Launcher of the Delta State Security Trust Fund.
The twin developments — Tompolo’s dramatic reemergence and the state’s heightened security response — underscore the Oborevwori administration’s renewed focus on peace, security, and sustainable development in Delta.
The launch ceremony, held at the Government House, Asaba, was attended by top government officials, security chiefs, traditional rulers, business leaders, and community representatives.
Governor Oborevwori described the Security Trust Fund as a strategic public–private partnership designed to strengthen security infrastructure, enhance intelligence gathering, and improve inter-agency coordination in combating crime and violence across the state.
He emphasized that peace and safety are central pillars of his administration’s MORE Agenda, pledging to ensure that Delta remains a secure and investor-friendly environment.
In his first formal public engagement in over ten years, Chief Keston Pondi, who spoke on behalf of High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, lauded the governor for institutionalizing a framework that enables coordinated private-sector participation in tackling security challenges.
He said: “What we are launching today goes beyond a financial contribution, it is a strategic investment in peace, progress, and the protection of lives and property,” pledging Tantita’s full support for the initiative with a princely donation of N10 billion.
