The announcement was made during a reception in Abuja on Monday evening. President Bola Tinubu was represented by First Lady Senator Remi Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
D’Tigress defeated Mali 78-64 in Sunday’s final to claim their seventh overall AfroBasket title and extend their unbeaten run to 29 games since 2015.
Key players like Ezinne Kalu and Amy Okonkwo led the charge, scoring 20 and 19 points respectively. Nigeria had earlier edged Senegal 75-68 in the semi-final to book their place in the final.
The victory cements D’Tigress’ dominance as the most successful women’s basketball team in Africa.
