AFCON 2025 Records Highest Revenues in History, CAF Says

The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 has become the most commercially successful edition in the history of African football, recording a surge of more than 90% in revenues, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) said.

CAF officials credited the historic financial performance to expanded sponsorship deals, broader media rights distribution, and entry into new markets across Asia and Europe, which helped drive the competition’s commercial growth.

In addition to the revenue increase, the number of commercial partners associated with AFCON has grown significantly. CAF reported that the sponsor portfolio expanded from nine partners in 2021 to 23 sponsors in 2025, reflecting rising global interest in African football.

The expanded revenue base also stems from strategic commercial initiatives, including new broadcast deals and enhanced media exposure in previously under-served markets such as China, Japan and key European countries.

CAF’s statement described AFCON 2025 as “undoubtedly the most successful commercial story in the history of African football,” highlighting the tournament’s growing financial power on the global sports stage.

The surge in commercial success underscores the expanding appeal of the Africa Cup of Nations and its value to partners and broadcasters worldwide as the tournament continues to break new ground off the pitch.
