US Immigration Facility Attack: One Dead, Two Injured, Suspect Dies by Suicide

A shooting at a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility in Dallas, Texas, left one person dead and two others injured on Wednesday, officials confirmed.

The Dallas Police Department said the suspected gunman opened fire from the roof of a nearby building before turning the weapon on himself as law enforcement officers closed in. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed that the attacker died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

“While we don’t know the motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop,” Noem said in a post on X.

Local media reported that the victims were detainees held in ICE custody. ICE deputy director Madison Sheahan told Fox News that no ICE officers were harmed in the incident.

“We’ve seen a lot of violence at ICE facilities, and this is not the first time we’ve seen an attack, even this year,” Sheahan noted.

Vice President JD Vance also condemned the shooting, describing it as part of an “obsessive attack” on law enforcement. “I’m praying for everyone hurt in this attack and for their families,” he wrote on X.

The Dallas attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents targeting immigration facilities in Texas. In July, an ICE center in Alvarado was attacked, leaving a police officer injured and several vehicles vandalized with anti-ICE graffiti. Days later, a man armed with an assault rifle opened fire at a US Border Patrol facility in McAllen, injuring multiple officers before being shot dead.
