Stop Offering Money to Police Officers, FCT Command Cautions Nigerians
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has cautioned Nigerians against offering money or any form of inducement to police officers while on duty, stressing that such actions are unlawful and compromise the integrity of policing.
In a statement shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday, September 7, 2025, the Command warned that giving money to officers undermines professional conduct and weakens public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.
“It is unlawful to give our officers money or any form of inducement while they are performing their duty. Let them discharge their responsibilities diligently, without interference,” the statement read.
Reassuring Nigerians of its commitment to transparent and accountable service, the Command urged citizens to allow officers carry out their duties without inducement, while pledging to uphold professionalism across the force.
The FCT Police further encouraged the public to report any case of misconduct or unprofessional behaviour through its Complaint Response Unit (CRU) on 08107314192 or via the emergency line 08032003913.
