Romulo Joins Leipzig After Sesko’s Move to United
Bundesliga club RB Leipzig have completed the signing of Brazilian striker Romulo from Turkish side Goztepe as a direct replacement for Benjamin Sesko, who recently joined Manchester United.
According to a report from Vanguard, Romulo, 23, has signed a contract running until 2030 for a reported fee of €25 million ($29.2 million), including bonuses. Leipzig had been in urgent need of a new forward following Sesko’s departure to United for a reported €85 million.
The Brazilian enjoyed an impressive season with Goztepe, scoring 13 goals and providing nine assists in 29 league matches last campaign.
Leipzig, who finished seventh last season and missed out on European football for the first time in their Bundesliga history, are undergoing a squad rebuild under Jurgen Klopp’s first off-season as Red Bull’s global head of football.
The club have already secured several promising young talents ahead of next weekend’s Bundesliga kickoff, including winger Johan Bakayoko and midfielder Arthur Vermeeren.
In addition to Romulo’s arrival, Leipzig have appointed Ole Werner as their new manager as they aim to bounce back from a disappointing 2024/25 campaign.
