Oborevwori Celebrates Esther Ahon at 100, Hails Her Legacy
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has paid glowing tribute to Mrs. Esther Ahon as she marked her 100th birthday, describing her as a symbol of discipline, kindness, and exemplary motherhood.
The governor, represented by Jaro Egbo, spoke at a thanksgiving service held at Bishop Agori-Iwe Memorial Anglican Church.
He noted that the centenarian’s life reflects dignity, humility, and moral excellence, qualities he said continue to inspire both present and future generations.
Oborevwori stressed that Mrs. Ahon, mother of his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, is being celebrated not just for longevity but for the enduring values she represents, including strong family commitment and positive community impact.
He reaffirmed his administration’s respect for senior citizens, adding that their welfare and dignity remain a priority.
Reflecting on honour, the governor remarked that beyond political titles, the most revered is “Okpakorere,” describing it as a divinely bestowed recognition within the community.
Earlier, Venerable Oghomena Diakeleho-Edjere described the celebrant as a devout and consistent church member, noting her dedication and active participation in church activities.
He portrayed her as a “living legend” and prayed for continued strength and grace, urging others to emulate her life of faith and service.
In a vote of thanks, Mr. Moses Ahon expressed gratitude to God for the milestone, noting that she is the first in the family to reach the age of 100, making the occasion historic for the family and community.
The celebration featured a solemn thanksgiving, prayers, and tributes, followed by a colourful reception where the centenarian celebrated with children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and guests.
