Obaseki’s Tech Reform: 89 Edo Youths Graduate From EdoJobs, SLOT Foundation Training


Not less than 89 Edo youths have completed a three months training on phone and laptop repairs as well as software development organised by SLOT Foundation in conjunction with EdoJobs, the state government’s skills development initiative.

At the graduation ceremony, the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, represented by his Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Special Duties, Mandela Obaseki noted that, “This is one of our initiatives for youth empowerment in partnership with the private sector. We are also providing the trainees with starter-packs to enable them kick-start their businesses.”

Representative of SLOT Foundation in Edo State, Smart Osagiede, said the training, which is in phases, provides opportunity for the trainees to benefit from technical hands in Slot Foundation, and be trained on phone and laptop repairs.

Training Coordinator, SLOT Foundation, Collins Uwadia, noted that: “The intensive training lasted for three months. It included practical training and theory, while the business part focused on entrepreneurship development.”

Director of Training, EdoJobs, Niyi Omole, said that 30 outstanding trainees were given starter-packs to enable them become employers of labour.

A beneficiary of the training, Alfred Vincent, commended the initiative of Governor Obaseki and Slot Foundation, adding, “we are grateful for the rare privilege to acquire the training.”

Mariam Odia, another beneficiary, said, “I am really excited that Governor Obaseki happened to come up with this idea which will go a long way to assist youth acquire practical skills through which they can become employers of labour.”
