No Assassination Attempt on Lt. Yarima – Abuja Police

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has denied reports alleging that Naval Lieutenant AM Yarima escaped an assassination attempt in Kubwa on Sunday evening.

The rumoured incident claimed that the officer was trailed by unidentified occupants of two unmarked Hilux vans from the NIPCO filling station off the Kubwa Motorway to Gado Nasco Road, forcing him to carry out evasive manoeuvres. Military sources were said to be looking into the development.

However, in a statement on Monday, the FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, described the story as false and misleading.

“The attention of the FCT Police Command has been drawn to publications circulating on social media alleging an attempted assassination on Lt Ahmed Yerima,” Adeh said. “The Command wishes to categorically state that no such incident has been reported or recorded anywhere within the Federal Capital Territory.”

She advised residents to disregard the viral claim and avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing panic.

Adeh further urged members of the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police division.
