Keyamo Meets NiMET Workers Over Strike
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, is meeting with Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) workers in Abuja to address their concerns over poor working conditions.
The workers have been protesting over issues including the non-implementation of the new national minimum wage, exclusion of some staff from allowances, and neglect of key training programs.
The meeting, which includes key stakeholders such as the Director General of NiMET, officials from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and representatives from various unions, aims to find a resolution to the crisis.
The unions present include the National Union of Transport Employees, Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees, Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals, and National Union of Air Transport Employees.
After a brief opening session, the meeting moved into a closed session to facilitate discussions. The outcome of the meeting is awaited, with hopes that it will bring relief to the striking NiMET workers and restore normalcy to aviation operations.
