Bournemouth Boss Iraola to Leave at End of Season
AFC Bournemouth have confirmed that head coach Andoni Iraola will leave the club at the end of the 2025/26 season, bringing an end to his three-year spell in charge.
The 43-year-old Spaniard, who took over in 2023, is set to depart upon the expiration of his contract after turning down multiple offers to extend his stay.
In a statement, the club said: “AFC Bournemouth can confirm that head coach Andoni Iraola will leave the club at the conclusion of the 2025/26 season, bringing an end to his successful three-year tenure on the south coast.”
Iraola’s time at Bournemouth has been widely regarded as transformative. Under his leadership, the club achieved a record 56 points in the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, securing a joint-best ninth-place finish.
Despite the club’s efforts to retain him, negotiations over a new contract did not yield an agreement, leading to his decision to move on at the end of the current campaign.
Speaking on his departure, Iraola said: “I feel this is the right moment for me to step away.”
Bournemouth are currently mid-table and still pushing for a potential European spot, with Iraola set to oversee the final games of the season before his exit.
The Spaniard has been linked with several top managerial roles, including a possible return to his former club Athletic Bilbao, while the Cherries have already begun searching for his successor.
His departure marks the end of a successful era at Bournemouth, where he established a progressive playing style and strengthened the club’s position in the Premier League.
