Gunmen Attack Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Family House in Kogi Again

Gunmen have once again attacked the family residence of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in Ihima, located in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The latest incident, which occurred on Tuesday, marks the third reported attack on the senator’s family home in recent months. A previous assault on the property was recorded in April.

According to a report by CHANNELS, sources disclosed that the attackers were repelled by vigilant community members and local youths, who acted swiftly to prevent the gunmen from causing damage to the building.

One suspect was reportedly apprehended at the scene. During interrogation, the individual allegedly confessed to the crime and admitted that the Tuesday attack was the third targeted attempt on the lawmaker’s family home.

Recovered from the suspect were a cutlass and several charms. The suspect has since been handed over to the police for further investigation, while other assailants believed to be armed with dangerous weapons remain at large.

The senator’s media team confirmed the incident in a statement released shortly after the attack.

“We call on the public to remain calm and steadfast in the pursuit of justice. Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s commitment to truth and her tireless representation of her constituents should not be met with violence or intimidation,” the statement read.

Attempts to get an official reaction from the Kogi State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer, William Ayah, could not be reached at the time of reporting.

The continued targeting of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s family house has raised concerns about the security situation in the area and the growing threats faced by public officeholders in the state.
