FIFA Unveils Trionda as Official Match Ball for 2026 World Cup
FIFA has officially unveiled Trionda, the official match ball for the 2026 World Cup, combining cutting-edge technology with symbolic designs that celebrate the three co-host nations the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The ball, created by German sportswear giant Adidas, continues the tradition of the brand supplying World Cup balls since 1970.
“I am delighted and proud to present the Trionda,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino during the unveiling event in New York on Thursday.
As the first World Cup jointly hosted by three countries, the 2026 tournament inspired both the name and look of the Trionda. Its design features red, blue, and green colors along with national symbols:
- Maple leaves for Canada
- Eagle for Mexico
- Stars for the United States
The triangular shapes embedded in the design reflect the unity of the three host nations.
Beyond its visuals, Trionda is packed with innovations.
- Deep seams are engineered to provide “optimal in-flight stability.”
- Embossed icons improve grip in wet or humid conditions.
- A motion sensor chip sends real-time ball movement data to the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system.
The unveiling marks a major milestone in the build-up to the 2026 World Cup, scheduled for June 11 to July 19.
FIFA also announced that online ticket sales are underway, with more than 4.5 million fans from 216 countries already entering the presale draw. The official tournament draw is set for December 5 in Washington, D.C.
