Edo State Government Bans Use of Public Schools, Roads for Parties

Edo state government has banned the use of public schools and roads for hosting social activities.

In a terse statement by the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu, observed that some residents of the state have been involved in the indiscriminate use of public schools, roads and other public places for social activities, a development he said the present administration frowns at.

The statement reads in part, “This is to inform the general public that the Edo State Government has announced the imposition of ban on the indiscriminate use of all premises of public schools, roads and other public places for social event.

“The government had frowned at the behaviour, noting that it cannot be accepted in a civilized society and will therefore not be condoned forthwith.”

The statement adds that the ugly practice will distort the state government’s plans to make the state a model of magnificence and beauty.

While warning that defaulters will be dealt with in accordance with the law, the statement directed all relevant agencies of government to enforce compliance.

“As you all are aware that this administration is determined to make Edo a model of magnificence and beauty once again.Henceforth  any violation of this decision of government will be dealt with in accordance with extant laws.

“All arms and agencies of government are hereby informed and directed to enforce compliance, please.”
