Delta’s Economic Boom Stems from Our Reforms — Oborevwori
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Wednesday stated that the growing influx of businesses, financial institutions, and hospitality operators into the state reflects confidence in his administration’s deliberate ease-of-doing-business reforms.
Speaking in Asaba at the inauguration of Premium Trust Bank’s second branch in Asaba and 30th nationwide, Governor Oborevwori noted that the surge in corporate presence highlights Delta’s market potential and the conducive business climate created through government policies.
According to the governor, the operating environment for businesses has improved significantly due to massive infrastructural renewal, policy reforms, a business-friendly government posture, and sustained peace across the state.
He emphasized the state’s commitment to facilitating business development through deliberate measures, including a centralised building control system to fast-track land and property acquisition for prospective investors. “One of our key policies is the centralised building control system, which helps to fast-track land and property acquisition for prospective investors,” the governor said, adding that Asaba has witnessed a real estate boom driven by inflows of people from neighbouring states.
Governor Oborevwori reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to positioning Delta as a preferred investment destination through the economic policies embedded in the MORE Agenda.
Congratulating Premium Trust Bank on reaching 30 branches in three years, he described the achievement as a testament to strong leadership, creativity, and dedication. He attributed the bank’s growth to personalized customer service, innovative products, and professionalism.
The governor expressed optimism that the new branch would boost human capital development, create jobs, and deepen retail sector activities in the state. He noted that qualified youths had already been engaged by the bank.
Oborevwori also urged residents to maintain peace and law-abiding behaviour, particularly during the Christmas season, stressing that peace attracts more investments and fosters wealth creation. He assured that the state government would continue strengthening security across Delta and cautioned host communities against intimidating companies. He added that corporate organisations are expected to fulfill their corporate social responsibilities and emphasized that no company or oil installation would be shut down under any guise.
In his remarks, Premium Trust Bank Managing Director, Dr. Emmanuel Emefienem, confirmed that the newly commissioned branch is the bank’s 30th nationwide, fifth in Delta State, and second in Asaba. Dr. Emefienem praised Governor Oborevwori for his visionary leadership, highlighting infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and economic diversification in Delta, which he described as “a project site” with visible growth across sectors.
